About Jennifer

I started writing at the age of 7 – my first book was a self-illustrated, non-fiction work about tigers (mostly written on construction paper). Since then, I’ve dabbled in creative writing, poetry, and short fiction. These undiscovered works never made it past the confines of my journal covers! Then a few years ago I discovered a new medium – blogging – and I was hooked.

When I’m not writing, I enjoy reading (murder mysteries) and binge-watching Brit Box (more murder mysteries). I’m a passionate advocate for the New Jersey wine industry (yes, New Jersey makes great wine!), and I get to live that dream as a manager of a local Winery Tasting Room.

I currently live in southern New Jersey with my husband and very smart Siamese cat. Our grown son is pursuing a PhD in Chemistry at the University of Illinois!

About Living Lighter

In 2016, I intentionally lost 40 pounds at a time in my life when I felt very low. Nothing was going right; my husband was unemployed, our debt was growing, and the house was a mess. There was a lot more weighing me down than I realized.

Around the same time I discovered the Minimalist Movement and the idea that living with less could lead to so much more. I started reading every blog and book on the subject and made small changes in my daily life. While I’m far from where I want to be, I sure have come a long way!

This blog is a chronicle of my on-going journey to live lighter and find meaning in the everyday. I’ll share what I learn and hope you’ll join the conversation.

I’d love to hear from you. Email me at jennifer.malme@gmail.com.
